Word of Encouragement – 17th May 2024

Ibex Peak, MT – April 2016

Grace, Hope & Peace, Friend;
Kangaroo courts‘ are sham legal proceedings set-up in order to give the impression of a fair legal process.

After the Sanhedrin – the Council of elders consisting of the chief priests and scribes – had rushed through their own sham trial, they brought Jesus before Pilate.

They began to bring charges against Him, saying, “We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding us to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”

Luke 23:2

Pilate knew the charges were false. The hated Jewish tax-collectors would have reported if Jesus was telling people not to pay taxes! As for “misleading the nation,” what would the governor care about Jewish law? John records that Pilate told the Sanhedrin, “Take Him yourselves, and judge Him according to your law.” (John 18:31) He may have been curious about Jesus claiming to be ‘a king’ – someone else for him to deal with – but Rome was in Control. So,

Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no guilt in this man.”

Luke 23:4

The Creator of the Universe – guiltless! What grounds does humanity have to judge our Creator? Satan planted that seed of arrogance in Eve! (Genesis 3:1-7) Sentenced by kangaroo courts, Paul tells us,

While we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

Romans 5:6

Do we realize how incredible that is? One would hardly die for a righteous person!

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

That is how much our Creator loves us! Even though He is without guilt, He died for us! That sacrifice was planned right from the beginning!

He was wounded for the wrong things we did. He was crushed for the evil things we did. The punishment, which made us well, was given to Him. And we are healed because of His wounds. We all have wandered away like sheep. Each of us has gone his own way. But the Lord has put on Him the punishment for all the evil we have done.

Isaiah 53:5-6 (ICB)

Seh HaElohim – Lamb of God – thank You for bearing my guilt.

Redeemed by the spotless Lamb of God

1 Peter 1:18-19 (Summarized)

That’s how much God loves YOU,
