Grace, Hope & Peace, Friend;
On the first day of the ‘Feast of Unleavened Bread‘ (Exodus 12:14-20) the disciples asked Jesus, “Where do You want us to go and prepare for You to eat the Passover?“
Jesus told Peter and John, (Luke 22:8) “Go into the city, and a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you; follow him; and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is My guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”‘ And he himself will show you a large upstairs room furnished and ready; prepare for us there.” (Mark 14:12-15)
Pretty specific instructions, and we are told,
The disciples left and came to the city, and found everything just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.

What does God want to show us by giving us the details for the preparation? I think it is to encourage us for the task He gives each of us; “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (Mark 16:15) Not all of us will be sent overseas, or called to be evangelists, hold ‘tent meetings’ or glamorous tasks like that! But ALL of us are called to show God’s love to hurting and confused people; maybe to prepare them for a celebration with Jesus!
The encouragement for us? They did what Jesus said and “found everything just as He had told them!” Along with many other promises, Jesus said He will always be with us (Hebrews 13:5) and provide everything we need! (Matthew 6:33) As we see Him working in our lives we can be encouraged to keep preparing for His return.
Yahweh-Jireh – the Lord will provide – Thank You that all Your promises are faithful and true.
