FA154 – Cluttered – Sketch

Grace, Hope & Peace, Friend;

One Sabbath, as Jesus and His disciples were walking through some grainfields, His disciples began to pick some of the heads of grain. This was allowed by law, (Deuteronomy 23:25) but the religious leaders took issue with the fact that they were doing it on the Sabbath.

The Pharisees were saying to Him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

Mark 2:24

After pointing out how one of their ‘heroes’ – David – had broken one of the laws, (Mark 2:25-26) Jesus said to the Pharisees, “The Sabbath day was made to help people. They were not made to be ruled by the Sabbath day.” (Mark 2:27 ICB)

The religious leaders placed obeying the Law – and their interpretation of the Law – above obeying God. (See Mark 7:9-13) But Jesus said, “The Son of Man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:27)

How many times do we, as Christians, look at other Christians and think, “They shouldn’t be doing that?” Maybe it is something the Spirit has convicted US of doing, and we have stopped. Or maybe it is something we would NEVER do. So we ask the religious question, “Why are they doing that?

Paul asks a simple question,

Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

Romans 14:4

And he adds, “Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.” (Vs. 5) Are WE obeying what the Lord has told US to do?

Jesus is “Lord of ALL.” (Romans 10:12) Whether we acknowledge it or not, He has absolute power and authority over everything.

Jesus told us to “make disciples of all the nations, teaching them to follow (or keep) all that I commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20) He did not tell us to, “Teach them to do what you ‘think‘ I mean.

Adon HaAdonim – Lord of lords – Help me obey You as You direct me.

I stay close to you. You support me with your right hand.

Psalm 63:8 (ICB)

Do what Jesus tells YOU to do,
